NAQ
(Never asked questions we decided to answer anyways)
- I searched for 6L6GC and found no results – you call yourself a tube store?
- Our search feature ignores prefixes and suffixes, please try 6L6 and try again.
- I searched for 12AX7 and your site displayed 7025 tubes and other such nonsense – who coded this thing?
- We do our own coding and it won’t surprise us if there are issues with it. In this case, the reason for those results are most vacuum tubes had a number of labels and we cross-referenced them. The 7025 tube is an industrial, low noise 12AX7 and is an exact substitute. You will find many exact substitute listings in our pages – more options means getting the tube(s) that is right for you.
- What interface do you use between the rear of Uncle Fester and the Hickok 539C?
- Please seek counseling at the earliest opportunity
- What is a Hickok 539C?
- The Hickok 539C is one of the premier tube testers to ever go to market. Our unit has been professionally calibrated and is extremely accurate. We also use a filament warmer to ensure accurate testing and matching procedures.
- I see you have pictures with some of your tubes. Will you take a picture of the tube I’m interested in?
- We are sorry but with an inventory of over 30,000 vacuum tubes, taking pictures of each type and brand would force us to increase cost. Neither you or Black Swamp want that.
- Ok, but what about tubes that have multiple amounts and only one picture?
- Once again, individual pictures are unmanageable. If you desire tubes with pristine labels we will try to accommodate you, please add $5 per pair and leave a note with your order. If we do not have pristine label tubes we will refund your $5. If only pristine label tubes will do…please email us first.
- I want to totally retube my (insert amp, radio, whatever here). Do you do that?
- Yes. In fact, if you are retubing anything with 5 or more tubes we offer a 10% discount. Please send us the make and model of your unit, the tubes needed and we will reply with options at up to 4 different price points.
- That sounds great, what do I do with the old tubes?
- You could rewire your Christmas tree lights at the correct filament voltage or send them to us. If they test at acceptable OS levels we can offer you up to 30% of our retail price or return them to you at a $2.50 per tube testing and handling fee. Even if you decide to take them back, you now have a back-up set that has been fully tested.
- That sounds good too but can I trust you?
- In all seriousness, this business was founded with sincerity and integrity in mind. We believe in living a spiritually principled life and run the business in the same manner. Reputation, honesty and quality matter at Black Swamp Audio.
- How do you define NOS?
- These tubes are tested and meet the below listed Gm specifications of an UNUSED tube. No other sales claims about New Old Stock tubes are either expressed or implied by us.
- These tubes have been tested and meet or exceed manufacturer published specifications of transconductance (Gm) for the specified tube type. This is based on the Design Center Rating System (average/bogey tube ratings), according to the original RMA standard M8-210. All tests are made prior to shipping on calibrated professional test equipment.
- NOS tubes fall within the Gm characteristic range of an average tube, as published in the RCA RECEIVING TUBE MANUAL. This publication also states "Individual tubes, like any manufactured product, may have characteristics that range above or below the values given."
- NOS tubes may or may not have their original box, and on occasion may have partial to complete loss of the original label. Original boxes will be supplied whenever possible. Tubes that have been previously stored under poor conditions will be cleaned, perserving as much of the original label as possible
- What is your refund policy?
- All tubes come with a 30 day money back guarantee. Full details are here.
- My aunt Millie has 843 vacuum tubes in her basement and 76 more in the attic. Will you buy them?
- Maybe. If you have a list of what tubes they are that’d make things easy. If not email us and we can explore the possibilities. In general, we purchase tubes we can resell at up to 33% of our retail price.
